New American Paintings is finally out and I think it looks pretty awesome. They reversed my painting, its weird seeing it flipped like that but it fits the format well. It's a cool feeling to see my work on the shelfs. I took a few pictures with my phone at Barns and Noble. Keep you eye out for it!

Wooden Props

I created some sculptural objects for the installation at the Light Gallery and for my upcoming senior show. They reflect object that are used in the paintings. Made all out of wood and stained, then I used polyurethane as well as wax to finish them. I made them mostly from scratch because I didn't want them too look generic and store bought. I posted images of them installed with the paintings bellow. Currently I'm working on a few more objects for the senior show, mostly 2D plaques with painted images on them

I lOVE making lists especially music lists and I get really excited when review sites / magazines create end of the year "best music" lists, I especially like Pitchfork's list because they find stuff that I didn't know about, I discover some great stuff on there and I love their reviews. Every year I like to make my own list which is really hard to do because I listen to so much music every year, it's hard to narrow it down. I started with a really big list and narrowed it to 32 albums that I got the most excited about and also played the most. I roughly put them in order.

New American Paintings #81

I'm going to be in New American Paintings!!! The Mid-Atlantic edition number 81. It comes out April 1st 2009 so keep your eye out for it.

I found out at the end of February that they're going to use my painting for the cover, the painting of the pool the one titled "Summer".

Desert Bound

"Desert Bound" Oil on Panel 20"x30"

A new painting! I'm still trying to deiced was I want to title this one right now I'm going to use Desert Bound until I think of something better. I finished this one a little while ago but this is was first chance I had to get a good image of it. I've been working on many paintings at once so I feel like have haven't finished anything in a while. I've got about 3 more in-progress, which hopefully I'll be wrapping up when Christmas Brake ends.

I have some good news, I think this painting will be used for an album cover for the debut EP for the band Horse Shoes. I'm pretty damn excited about it I've been obsessed with music since I was young and I've always wanted to do an album cover. The EP will be released on of Shelflife Records, which seems like a pretty cool label I really like reading their blog everyone should check that out.

Quasi Painting

Drawing Page

I did some website updates. The drawing page is up now and I added to the info page the site is almost done. I didn't put all the images up just a selected few I included prints as well. The images I cut were because they were either school projects or just to out dated. I haven't made a drawing in a longtime so they all feel pretty old. I've been thinking about doing some more soon, maybe over christmas. This is a new painting the first from a new series of work I'm going to be working on for thesis. It got in to the Juried Undergrad Show and got a Merit Award which is like best in show. So I'm pretty happy about that. This piece is sort of the direction I'm going to me moving in I think.

Summer Paintings

This are the paintings the I did this summer I finally photographed them. The photos turned out pretty good beside maybe loosing a little detailed in the dark areas but that hard to fix. I re-photographed the other paintings in the show as well so I might update with better photos.

Road Trip

For all of August I was traveling around America with my friends in a month long road trip. I originally wanted to go on the trip to collect references to influence my paintings, and in the end that's what I did. I took a ton of pictures that will show up in my new work, I'm really excited to start painting. The road trip was one of the best experiences of my life and I miss being on the road. I love being out west I'll go back as soon as I can.

I made a Road Trip blog to document the trip but it turns out that we never really got internet besides a few times, where we found a few minutes of wireless. I still documented the trip by writing about the things we did each day in a word document. I'm going to add the posts on the road trip blog from that document very soon. I'm busy getting my show together right now but once that is finished I'll get the blog and the website together.

Here are some paintings from the spring, they will most like all be part of my show in September. (I noticed that the color of these images changed when I uploaded them they are actually more saturated than this. I'll try to fix it later.) There are two paintings I'm doing this summer one is done and the other one is in the beginning stages. Once I photograph them I'll put them up also.
